Mid-Atlantic Region
...SNOW SHOWERS TODAY; POSSIBLE LATE WEEK WINTER STORM...
Today (Sunday), snow showers (some mixed with rain) occurred and are occurring across the Mid-Atlantic. Most of these showers are not going to be impactful, though snow totals under an inch may occur in the Appalachian Mountains and Pennsylvania. No snowfall is expected Monday through Wednesday in the Mid-Atlantic.
Later in the week, on Thursday and potentially early Friday, a winter storm is possible in the Mid-Atlantic region. This storm will likely bring heavy snow in and near the Appalachian Mountains. East of the Appalachian Mountains, a couple scenarios are possible. The storm may dissipate and bring no snow, or a rain-to-snow event will occur. Rain may occur Thursday morning and become snow later in the day. Current projections are locally up to 4 or 5 inches of snow in the hardest hit areas, though some projections show no precipitation occurring at all. Future forecasts will be made when predictability of this winter storm increases.
