Brindle Weather Bulletin 0039
11PM EST
March 13, 2026
Mid-Atlantic Region
...STORMS POSSIBLE MONDAY; LAST BRINDLE WEATHER BULLETIN BEFORE TEMPORARY PAUSE...
This week, temperatures quickly went from 80s with thunderstorms to 30s with cold rain and even snow in some areas (the D.C. area saw as much as 2 inches). The cold front has moved through, but strong winds continue to impact the region. While systems like this are quite unusual and can trigger shock due to the quick change in weather (which is why many people experience allergies and migranes during these times), March is known for these quick snaps in temperature as the atmosphere transitions from winter to spring. The good news is, by April, these strong and sudden shifts in weather will become less common, and most systems will contain some storms but without a change to freezing temperatures and snowfall afterwards.
On Monday, like what was seen this week, another strong cold front will move through the region, bringing storms to the area before temperatures plummet below freezing. The drop in temeprature won't be quite as severe, but it will still drop from the 60s to the 30s/20s. The Mid-Atlantic may see one or two more of these quick weather changes before a more permanenent spring/summer pattern arrives, most likely in April.
With this being said, quick cold snaps will bring Mid-Atlantic temperatures below freezing for at least one last time, but snowfall is becoming less and less likely in the entire region in general (except for the Appalachians, which can see snow through mid-April). Brindle Weather forecasting for this winter, as well as winter-themed Brindle Weather Bulletins, will be coming to an end this weekend. This winter has been quite eventful, with an extreme winter storm in late January, an intense Nor' Easter just a couple weeks ago, and several minor snow events throughout winter. More information about the end of winter forecasting will be provided in the next bulletin.
